The current geopolitical situation is affecting the entire world, but one nation is facing a particularly difficult situation: The Philippines.
The Philippines food systems are heavily dependent on foreign oil that travels through the Strait of Hormuz for both production and transportation. As global fuel prices have skyrocketed, local industry and affordable grocery options in the Philippines have become increasingly inaccessible.
In response to this dire situation, Community Through Colors has partnered with Mutual Aid Disaster Relief – Search and Rescue to act in solidarity to install a community food pantry for three separate locations with strategic locations to best serve these communities. Food assistance programs like this are designed to work toward food sovereignty for impacted communities.
The first community food pantry was placed at the main gate of the First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE), an area directly supporting local factory workers and tricycle drivers (TODA) with SAMALAHAT Advocacy and Blue Earth Defense PH volunteers.
The second community food pantry, set up in an urban district of Valenzuela City, provided emergency food resources for 110 families.
The third community food pantry played a dual role, providing for environmental justice in the flood prone areas of Castillejos, Zambales, and supporting local agriculture by sourcing all of the food from local farmers and producers.
Help us provide mutual aid and support as the ongoing crisis in the Middle East cuts off communities from necessities.
Community Through Colors (CTC) was founded in 2016 as a mobile art exchange with the mission to spread hope and awareness by using art to reflect the similarities between all humans, despite geographical or cultural location.
